ImageTo create a fellowship within which the art of photography, in all its forms and skill levels, is acknowledged, respected, encouraged, shared, celebrated, and enjoyed by all.

Basic meetings will be held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, at 7.30 DST. The second Wednesday will be the practical 'Group Study’ evening.  The fourth Wednesday will be the ‘Competition’ evening. The practical evenings will cover workshops, lectures and, in the main, group studies.  The ‘Competition’ evenings will be in the form of a ‘soft’ competition, covering projected images and prints.

Meetings & Activities.

Basic meetings will be held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, at 7.30 DST.

The second Wednesday will be the practical; 'group studies' evening, covering workshops, lectures and, in the main, group studies

The fourth Wednesday of each month will be the Competition evening.  This will be in the form of a ‘soft’ competition, covering projected images and prints.

SOFT COMPETITION FORMAT.   Authors will have the option of introducing their work, consisting of a short explanation of what their aims and priorities were in the process of creating their image.

A panel of three; two senior and one other photographer, or invited guests will then briefly ‘review’ the image and give feedback to the author.

The aim is to give feedback, partly based on the introduction; when applicable, that is both constructive, sensitive and focussed primarily on what the makers need to know to achieve their own artistic aspirations.

There will be projected images and prints in both open and set subject categories.  We will have an 'Advanced' section.  Anyone can elect to be in the advanced section at any time. Winning four 'Photos of the Month' will automatically elevate the author to the advanced section.

Upon conclusion the panel will select their four favourite images of the evening.  These will be based on the relative section and their subjective and objective opinions.  The winning images will be awarded as ‘Photos of the Month’ and displayed on our website and; in print form, in the foyer of the South Tweed Sports Club.

Conventional Judging

Conventional Judging by official PSQ judges and based upon traditional photographic principles, may be part our program, but only for a couple of annual internal competitions. The basic philosophy being that ‘soft’ competitions, as above, might well create a culture that will, more readily, embrace our clubs Aims and Objectives.
